Another Chain Stay Protection Idea

If you're interested in a discrete way of protecting your chain stay, this product will work pretty well.

http://guitararmor.com/ You can probably find it at any number of on -line guitar stores.

I bought a package a few years ago to fashion a clear pick guard for an acoustic guitar - and had a bunch left over. Today I had the brilliant idea of putting some on my chain stay as a protector.

I think it's plenty tough for the occasional chain falling on the stay. If you make a habit of regularly spinning your chain over the stay, you might want something thicker and tougher. (maybe two layers of this stuff?) I'd say, it's roughly about as tough as duct tape. Pretty tough, but certainly not bullet proof. It is virtually invisible.

For the $10 you spend, you'll have enough material for about 3 bikes.
