Squeaky Pedal
I bought a set of Shimano PD-M324 pedals from Harris Cyclery a couple of months ago, and one of them has already started to make a loud squeaking noise whenever I ride. It wouldn't be practical to return them because I live in Europe and the cost of returning them would be prohibitive.
Is there any way I could repair this pedal? What could be the source of the squeaking?
Regards,
Ekdog

"whenever I ride" is not very specific. Does the squeaking come when you're clipping into or out of the pedals? Does it come when you're using either side and just pedaling along (so has nothing to do with the clip-in mechanism, but more likely the bearings or seals)? Etc.
It always baffles me when people put very little effort into actually describing the problem.
If it has to do with the clip-in mechanism, maybe it's the cleat - make sure this is tightened to your shoes. Also be sure that the screws on the pedal body are tight.
If it's the bearings, not too much you can do other than hope it goes away.

Excuse me, you inbred yahoo, but it would seem you are easily perplexed. My message did not have your name on it. It was meant for the other members of this forum, most of whom are intelligent, helpful and polite, qualities which you are obviously lacking in. I suggest you save yourself some bafflement in future by ignoring my posts.

Sometimes people are busy and put very little time into a post, but what perplexed me is that you wrote in otherwise informative post with a link and why it's not viable for you to return the pedals, but then didn't give us much info on the problem.

Who were you asking? Did you have someone specific in mind? The other "intelegent, helpful and polite...." members of this form (which obvioulsly excludes you) wouldn't know any more about how to solve you problem either.

My post may have lacked detail, but there was a dearth of something much more important in your reply: common courtesy. The former can be put down to an ignorance of the subject matter at hand on my part; the latter, it seems to me, is a manifestation of your arrogance, lack of culture, intolerance, and deficient upbringing.
You are obviously quite knowledgable about bicycle mechanics, but were you never taught any manners?

If you, sir, believe that cynically stating that "it always baffles me when people put very little effort into actually describing the problem" is the way to point out another person's defects "in a polite way," I can only assume that you attended the same school of manners as the gentleman from North Carolina.
As this was our first exchange, he had no way of knowing how much effort I might or might not have put into describing the problem. If he was indeed convinced that I was intentionally concealing important information out of laziness or a lack of consideration for the other members of the forum, he could have chosen not to respond to my query.

"I really dislike being baffled."
I can understand that, and I am sure it is a situation that presents itself to you frequently.

I think the solution to Ekdog's problem is that he should do something with the pedal.

No, not really. You see, I'm a professional bicycle mechanic, and when dealing with a mechanical issue, I am rarely baffled. I am usually here at the forum to answer questions, not ask them.
What baffles me is that when someone asks for an answer to their problem entirely free of charge and is given some guidance to ask in a more comprehensive manner, they get insulting and insolent, ruining any chances of resolution.
You may have better luck catching flies with honey than vinegar....just a friendly suggestion.

Here's a few pdf files, if you want to make the attempt to grease the bearings and make other adjustments:

Thread closed. Ekdog - if you intend to ask for questions I suggest that you be more polite to those attempting to help you. Personal attacks on other members is absolutely uncalled for and will not be tollerated. The last post in this thread should give you the information you need to do this yourself. Good day and good luck.
