loose bar grips

The handle bar grips on my MTB are very loose and turn on the bar. What is the best way to secure them? Is there a special type of adhesive to use? I know I will want to remove them in the future, so I don't want to glue them down too tight.

There are several methods of securing grips to the bars. One way that some riders use in wet weather is wiring them down. Doing a search on the net or on this site should give you some pics of what I'm talking about. Basically, you cinch the grips to the bar by, well, wiring them down.

An easier way to ensure that your grips aren't going anywhere - Pick up a set of ODI lock-ons for around 20 bucks. Each grip uses two clamps to lock the grip in place with small allen screws. No adhesive or modification to the bars is required. Removing the grips is super-easy. Just loosen the allen bolts in the clamps and slide the grip off. Very slick.

I currently run ODI Rogues on my XC ride. There is quite a bit of padding on these grips, but they allow me to wear thinnner gloves, which I like.

I use pump hairspray. Spray it inside, put on grips, allow to dry for 24 hours. I have never had any come loose this way.

Park Tool's website has instructions on how to wire grips.

I pumped hairspray into the grips yesterday and plan to ride later this afternoon. Hopefully it will hold. This is on a Specialized Stumpjumper that is only two months old, so I hope I do not end up buying ODI grips right away. I read the Park Tool page on wrapping wire, but this doesn't look good to me. I would pony up the coin for the ODI's before going this "duck tape" method.

thx
