Carbon Fiber / Topeak beam rack

Ok, so I have this Topeak MTX beam rack (20lbs max) which I would like to be able to use when I pick up the mail or have other light things to carry, but the instructions with the rack caution against using with a carbon fiber seat post. What is the risk here, will the clamp damage or crush the seat post?

I expect that is just what they are concerned about. You have to get the clamp very tight to keep the rack from swinging and pivoting around the post.

Those beam racks are also pulling backwards on the post, which is probably a different stress situation then the designers of some CF posts considered.
