Need Recommendation for Frame Painter
Can anyone suggest someone w/ a good rep to paint a Trek OCLV Carbon frame. Please include contact info.

Trek _does_ do repaints, but the work I have seen is less than impressive. Conspicuously subpar work compared to a new ride.

You could try either a community college that teaches auto body, or take it to a auto painter and they can do it cheap for about $150 to $250.

Car painters HATE painting bike frames. The mess of tubes & intersections is NOT what they're used to.
As for "Custom" houses, they DO charge accordingly!
I'd be afraid to ask "Nubs"* how much he would charge for a frame/fork with custom art!
*Nubs is the painter for the Tuetles on "American Chopper"

The good & bad
I have had frames painted in the past and a 2 others powerdercoated. Mostly have had good experiences and 1 rotten awful experience.
First the good...
I have had good paint jobs from Joe Bell in Cali and Dave at Southwest Frameworks in Texas. Dave also builds frames and his paintwork was actually quite affordable compared to other painters out there. I had the last frame powdered by the Sycip guys in Cali. It was really good. Their primary business is building frames and they don't advertise their powder service, but if you call them they will tell you that they can powder other manufacturer's frames. Come to think of it, I have had good experience with painters that are also framebuilders. Maybe it's a generalization, but I think they take better care of the frame they are to paint.
Now, the bad...
I have had one terrible experience with Spectrum. It was so bad that I will never go back to them and tell my friends to stay away. I know that they are popular with others, but they really screwed me over and that is the honest to god truth. It was for a powder finish, not paint. They dented the frame which indicates to me that they are rushing trying to fill orders. Then, they tell me it was damaged in shipping and the shipper was liable not them, like how would they know? The box was undamaged, and in perfect condition in the area of the frame's dent. They also forgot to put the decals on the seatstays like I requested and later claimed that I didn't tell them to do that, which was total BS since I signed off on it beforehand. I will never have another frame sent there ever again.
