Crashed fork?

I found a 700c road fork in the back of the shop with standard road rake... a bit dinged up but looked okay. I wanted to get the stock unicrown 1 inch threadless fork off of my bike so i chucked this on there and rode around after work. ive noticed that the fork seems to pull either left or right on its own accord. Its tough to ride in a straight line. Is this fork crashed or bent? My wheels are true and my bike is well maintained. Other people have ridden my bike and verified that the tracking of the fork is off. Any ideas?

Regards

Maybe it was in the back of the shop for a good reason.

It does sound like the blade alignment is off, probably due to a crash which would also explain the "a bit dinged up" appearance. Does the shop have a fork alignment gauge? That's the first check I'd make.

Was there a change in the rake from your old fork? You said "standard road rake" but to my knowledge there is no "standard" rake for a road bike. I've seen 37 to 45 on road bikes, maybe even more.

A significant change in rake could change the responsiveness of the bike but wouldn't make it pull to one side. I still think the fork is mis-aligned and that should be checked first.
