XTR v-brake parallel arm

I have a late 90s XTR v-brake installed on my commuter bike (a '95 Marin Team) and recently when changing a rear flat, broke the parallel arm. This arm is basically strengthens/stiffens the arm to give more braking power. Obviously, the brakes still work and for my commuting duties seems to be powerful enough... any other reason I should replace the brake or buy (if I can) a new parallel arm for it?
