    Newby On Campy cable routing at the hoods

    When routing your Campy cables out of the brifters is there any set rule? Right now mine are routed to the outside/inside. One cable on either side of the bar. What I notice in doing it this way is that the bar gets rather wide and fat for the hands. When I used Shimano shifters I only had one cable to worry about and it was routed to the inside of the handlebar which helped keeping the width and diameter smaller. With two cables to deal with its rather different and difficult to keep the bar width and diameter to a smaller size. Is this common with the Campy type stuff and I just have to get used to it or is it a handlebar issue? My bar is the Deda Electa and I was under the opinion that Deda modeled their bars to Campy so that's whey I went with them. Do any of you ever route the two cables to the inside and would this help with my situation.

    I routed the two cables parallel with each other and close together on the inside of the bars. That means you have to route the shift cable housing on the inside channel of the brifter body so it stays close to the brake cable housing. It seems to produce a rather sharp bend in the housing but the bike shifts fine.

    My bars are FSA and only have one cable groove but the cable routing is good and the bars aren't too fat feeling.

    I mounted Campy ergo shifters on my road bike about a month ago. I ran my cables on each side of the bar and, yes, the bar is quite fat with the cables ran this way. Also, I used gel underneath the bar tape so mine are extra fat. But, I prefer it this way.

    I run the cables outside + inside. I always liked the feel better than both back (a la Indurain) or in grooves. And now I can say that I just want a "wing bar" feeling

    Cable routing

    I have used the same bar with campy. Run both cables under the bar and through the "tunnel" they have set up. Shifting won't be an issue and the cables won't rattle. You will have a nice, clean set-up in the end.

    BTW - Deda does specifically design the bend in their bars to match Campy.

    you need a bar with double grooves. theres lots of options but it's the best solution.

    double grooves are the way to go
