front derailer both overshifts and doesnt shift
Hi,
I've been having some issues with overshift going into my large chainring (or I guess I should say, going right past and off of my large chainring ) on my front derailer. I've got 2 chainrings (42/52) and I tried adjusting the limit stop to ensure it wouldnt overshift, and then it became a crapshoot as to whether it would get into the big chainring at all, often requiring 3 or 4 tries to get it to upshift, however it STILL will come off the outside every once in a while.
Is there something else I should be adjusting?
Any advice greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Possibly the derailleur's position. It should clear the big ring by only 1 or 2 mm, and the outside rail should be parallel to the chain when on the big ring and smallest cog.
Also you may need to adjust the cable tension.

Have you checked out the positioning of the actual derailer?
I had a similar problem on my wife's bike. I finally realized that the derailer was mounted so the front was pointing inward (I didn't install it originally), and adjusting the way the derailer was mounted fixed everything (then of course I had to readjust all the other stuff that would have been right in the first place).
