Clicking when pressing hard on the right pedal?

When I press hard on the right pedal, not the left, there is a clicking. What should I do to troubleshoot this problem? Thanks for your help.

is their any play in the BB bearing? I had similiar problem with my new bike.. took back to LBS and the mechanic took it apart and put it back together, it fixed the problem whatever it. I had also noticed some
play in the bb when I moved the pedals/cranks sideways..
good luck.

Had same problem a few years ago with my brand new allez (steel). turned out the new shimano pedal wasn't torqued properly. bike shop fixed it and no more clicking.

I have had a recurring problem with the left crankarm clicking with my new Surly LHT with Tiagra crank. It was silent for about the first 100 miles, then the left side began clicking under load. I took it back in and they tightened everything, to no avail. The shop owner then disassembled and then reassembled it, and it was quiet for about another 100 miles. The next time in he put a new crank arm on. It is the new two piece crank design, and he thought there was something that maybe didn't fit quite right. Again, about a week later it was back! I was preparing to resign myself to it, but my LBS has decided to replace the entire crank assembly and BB. I am hoping it works.

I had the exact same problem but with a kind of scraping noise on a MTB. I replaced the BB and the noise went away. Also had a creaking noise under load from the left side on another bike and I sprayed WD40 on the pedal and the noise stopped. It was just the cleat rubbing on the pedal (common apparently with Looks).

Your problem is usually caused by an improperly tightened bottom bracket. Bottom brackets need to be tight.
