Carbon fork ding

So it looks like a small stone was thrown into the fork by the front tire, and there is a slight white indentation(2mm in width) on the inner face of the fork. Should i be concerned about this?

I wouldn't be, just put some nail polish on it. If it happened to mine, the boat store sells a 2 part epoxy they call System 3, that's what I'm going to use when it happens to me.

I'd be more concerned about the depth than the width. Most likely it won't be a problem, since we're talking about impact and not shear stress or a cut into the fiber.

The beauty with carbon forks and frames is, you'll never know, until you find your face on the asphalt. Since I prefere to live my life in a more relaxed and boring way, I have neither.

OK, more seriously, it very much depends if it's just the laquer/paint or did the compacting resin suffer some damage, too. It doesn't matter whether the fibers themselves have been damaged, it's the plastic compound that propagates the fault/stress lines. Of course, if a fiber has been reached, the fork is a deathtrap.

This makes me feel so good about just having bought a CF fork and rear stay bike.
