Making my tires more pop-proof?
I just got a new bike, and I'm kind of paranoid [lol] about the tires popping and I would like to make this a rarer occurance.
Any suggestions? Marko |
The tires will not "pop" if properly mounted. Generally (NOT recommending this) one can inflate 10-20% over recommended inflation without blowing the tire off the rim. You need to read up or get some instruction on proper mounting of a tube and tire.

Buy some Specialized Armadillo tires. They are almost bomb proof. I won't guarantee that you won't have a flat, but I will almost guarantee no flats.

If a road or hyprid bike before EACH ride inflate your tires to near the maximum air pressure as shown on the side of the tire.
Use Velox rim tape on the rims. |

Any suggestions? Marko 1) Proper tire mounting procedures and checking for proper bead placement before pumping up to full pressure. Often, I'll fill with 20psi of air, spin the wheel and make sure the bead is seated evenly, then pumping up to full pressure, Inspect the area around the valve stem, as the reinforcement in the area may prevent proper seating of the tire onto the rim. 2) Before a ride, making sure the tires are within the recommended pressure range will prevent pinch flats. Cetain tires (like those mentioned) provide better puncture resistance. For added puncture proofing, you might want to consider installing tire liners. |

haaaaa just ride it on the rims man thats pop proof,i make a sleeve from old tubes and put that around my new tubes to prevent any flats, just stick to using a hand pump to pump up tubes and keep checking as you pump up.

if you over inflate any tube it will pop if you hit any rocks etc
