Too far forward in dropout?
I had to shorten my chain to get enough tension, and now it seems awfully close to being too short. Any thoughts on this?

It's fine, but if you're worried about it get a half link if a full link is too long.

I wanted to hear that it's okay. I don't want a half link unless someone strongly recommends it.

hello
The only reason I had to use a half link on my conversion is I wanted my dropouts to be able to handle the 2 tooth difference on my flip flop wheel. A full link was either too long or too short in my case.

As long as the nut doesn't go past the end of the dropout, you're fine.
