Mounting brifters on a base bar?

Mounting brifters on a base bar?
Are there any issues with mounting brifters on a time trial base bar?
I have a bike I really like but need it to do both road riding and time trialing and it's well suited to these hybrid demands. So I don't want to mount bar end shifters on my aero bars so that I have the option of removing them. I also don't want to go all in on time trial bar because I'll be doing road riding as well.

It CAN be done, but a better, cheaper, easier and less permanent option would be to simply get a pair of clipon aero bars. Put them on then you want to TT, take them off for road riding.

I already have clip on aero bars. The idea with mounting the brifters on my base bar is in lieu of going base bar, then removing the brifters, adding TT brakes to the base bar and then putting my DA bar shifters into my clip on aero bar ends.
I just hate the redundancy, Ludditism, performance, aesthetics and discomfort of the curly drop bars and need those out of there. I'm going base bar but what then of brakes and shifters?

Cable routing may look funny, but will operate just fine. The way the brake housing exits the brifter kind of directs it one way along the bar, normally. With a base bar you may not be able to keep it under the bar wrap, and instead have it hang out in space like the shift housing(it will still work fine, but may not meet your aesthetic requirements). I've seen Nokon or similiar metal-link housing used to try to route the housing with tighter curves.
