Chain length w/bigger chainring

Just a quick question: If you were to put a chainring that is one tooth larger on your bike with the existing chain, it should fit, correct? Is there an easy way to tell if it's alright?

I assume you are talking about the large ring, if not then of course it will fit. I would put it all together and with the bike on a stand or upside down check to be sure it will go from the large ring in the front to the large gear in the sprocket. I know you shouldn't ride this combination very often, but I wouldn't want to not be able to get into it and drom the chain if I tried. The Shimono website says while it's not a good idea to cross the chain that way if it were really bad they wouldn' have built it.

one tooth shouldn't make too much of a difference. the difference is something like 1/8th of an inch. of course, you should do the big/big test once the new ring is on just to make sure, but i'm pretty confident it'll work.
