raising handlebars trek 4500
I removed the center allen screw on the neck and couldnt figure how the heck to raise the handlebars up 2 or 3 inches do they even come up? if not any suggestions on what to do I sit too much on my hands and the middle of my shoulder blades start hurting after 10 or so miles. I am thinking about bar ends any suggestions on good ones?

Brand new '07 I can see straight threw the stem to the tire, I searched around and found out I have one that cannot be adjusted height wise.

It can be adjusted to some extent with a different Stem. The Stem is the part that your handlebar is attached to. The Steerer Tube is the part you can look through and see the top of your tire. Go to a decent bike shop and show them what you would like to accomplish. A stem of a different geometry should cost less than $30.

I also had the pain in the palms, between the shoulders, lower back and butt. I changed the flat bar out to a 5" riser. It may look goofy but it rides nice now. A pic is in this thread... https://www.bikeforums.net/bicycle-mechanics/323772-raising-bars.html
