dented head/fork tube

hi I just received this in the mail. Broke my heart to find it like this. It's a steel frame and haven't tried the headset or anything yet. Might return, but they don't have any more in stock so will have to re-order something else. Can this be bent back or fixed, any other ideas?

If I already owned it I'd try working it back round with a ball peen hammer until I got it to the point where I could press a steel headset race into it.

Since you appearantly just bought it I'd have to send it back. No way would I pay regular price since it's so obviously damaged.

+1... Do not try to put a headset in that. Just send it back - as previously stated if you already owned it, and you did the damage, you fix it (it is repairable), however purchased new... return it.

Without a doubt, it has to go back. Here's a tip if you were to try to fix something like this. Get one of those muffler tools that you can crank down and it expands from the inside in a circular pattern. hard to explain, but you know what I mean if you see it.

+1. The dent looks fairly deep and beyond minor repair efforts. Return the frame and keep looking.

Hitting it w a ball peen hammer won't give you a good, round fit. You need to press a slightly tapered cone into it which is likely to give you a much better, round fit.
