    Tektro R200A quick release problem

I tightened the R200A levers, and now the quick release on each lever won't stay in place. The QR moves when I use the levers. The QR seems to be symmetrical, but is there a required orientation to keep it in place? thx, eric

Looks like I'm the only idiot who has had trouble with these. I put a piece tape on the ends of each barrel, and so far they are holding.

I'm just having a hard time figuring out what you did. Take the levers off and check the plastic body for cracks. You might have overtightened it and cracked the body. You don't have to untape the bars either. You should be able to unscrew the body off the clamp while it's still on the handlebar. Good luck

All I did was actuate the lever, push out the QR, and tighten the bolt. Perhaps I overtightened it a bit. I'll check it out. thanks

Did you completely push the button out of the lever? I'm talking about separating it into two seperate pieces. If so, maybe you lost a spring in the process. I believe the button is held in place by a spring.

Yes, I pushed it all the way through. No springs came out that I saw. The lever is spring loaded, but I don't know if it engages the barrel or not. There is no documentation on Tektro's website.

You got me curious, so I looked at the ones on my Redline 925. The cylyndrical button has a little plastic clip around it's diameter that keeps it from coming loose. It engages with two detents in the button, giving it a click in the open and closed position.

My guess is you lost this piece that goes around the button. It looks like if you were to push the button completely loose from the lever that this piece would drop. The piece is cylyndrical, about 1/4 " long, black with a slit down it's length. If you had a straight piece of macaroni with a slit down it's length, that's what it would look like, if that helps to find it.

How did you push the button free of the lever? You'd have to use something more slender that your finger to get it to completely pop out.

Interesting. I'll see if I can find those pieces. I think I pushed them though with the tip of a screwdriver. It didn't take much to get them out.

edit: I found them inside the lever itself. I was able to get the first one in place. Thanks a lot!

This might seem like a strange question but here goes, why did you take QR pin out?

Gotta resurrect this old thread, but I have the same issue as the original poster. The quick release button fell out of the brake lever and it is gone. Anyone know if this is repairable? For now I am using a bolt that I cut the head off but I can't imagine that will work forever.
