disk brake problems
I have Hayes MX2 Mechanical disc brakes. Front disk periodically starts rubbing against the brake pad. I can hear rubbing noise. I goes away after a while and may appear agian after I have applied front brakes.
Is this normal? How can I fix this?
I went to the bike shop after they did a regular tune up and the guy told me that it is totally normal and I should not worry about it. I know those are inexpensive brakes but I still have my doubts.

Sounds like warped rotors and perhaps some adjustment.
While I agree it is "normal" and should cause no harm...it's annoying, and you can do something about it. Take it to a shop that has a rotor truing jig and that knows discs. They should be able to fix you up to run silently, and for not much money. Don't let them sell you new rotors if yours aren't worn out. That's just the "easy fix"...for them if they don't have the jig.

Its normal. The pads heat up, humidity, dust, etc. The pads quiet down after cooling.
