cassette removal, stubborn lockring

over 10 years old, this is OEM. i can't get the lockring to budge. I used a pipe for leverage on the wrench, but it kinda tweaked my chainwhip. I'm considering using a vise, but that puts the chainwhip under the wheel so that leverage should be awkward. the only item I need to survive is the cassette. ideas?

You're using a Park Tool FR-5x lockring tool, or the equivalent?

Got a cold chisel?

If you need the cassette to survive, you must have a chain whip.

Here's an idea. Take it to the LBS and let them sweat it.

I use an old chain and a vice instead of a chainwhip. It let's me put a lot more energy into the lockring.

Ah. A better chain whip. I'll have to give that a try. How do you set it up? Long chain with the wheel laid on a bench next to the vise?
