Nashbar ISIS BB

I just bought a Nashbar ISIS BB.

It came with both treaded rings attached to the tube, does anyone know the secret to getting the left treaded ring off so I can install it?

Jack

If I remember correctly, it's just tight, you just have to force it off. That's a good bottom bracket, btw, I've had excellent luck with mine, so far, after about 6000 miles-

I think I just pulled it off with my hands. It's tight, but you should be able to force it off, maybe work it back and forth some. I guess they press it on there at the factory to be sure it stays with the bb, I don't know-

Thanks I keep working at it. I put the tool in and tried to unscrew it but that didn't work. I've been upgrading my old road bike I have most of the new parts but things have sure changed since the last time I rebuilt a bike.

The non-drive side cup should is a tight fit around the bearing. Often, if the cup is slightly crooked, it will bind as you try to remove it. I think you should be able to tap it off with a hammer, but tap around the periphery of the cup.

I do recall using a vise to remove it. Open the vise greater that the diamter of the bb body, but smaller than the diameter of the cup flange. Make sure the vise is not clamping on any part of the bb. Rest the flange of the cup on the top of hte vise jaws and tap the spindle with a hammer.

I pulled it off with my hands. I struggled with it for minutes and then set it down to scratch my head. When I picked it up again, it just came off immediately.

Thanks I'll try that next. When I first started I was able to move it with the wrench but now I can't even move it with that.

On a good note I got the tires on the new wheels only to discover I bought the wrong type of freewheel, I need a cartage type.

Things are starting to look good though. My new derailers should be here in the next couple of days and hopefully I will be riding next week.

Thanks all Jack

I put a Nashbar/TH ISIS BB on my recumbent a few months ago. Along with a new Truvativ Elita crankset. Don't remember any installation problems. The setup works well.
