if i had not been riding for over 35 years now, with 9 years as a cat 1 racer i would have to take your advice about lubes. I've tried alot and found no difference with chain wear. with dry lubes i use less but more often, and find no loss of chain life. interesting that you do

Is it too late to have a poll on this? Having the "best" lubes summarized could be interesting. Or, maybe not...

Pedro's Ice Wax on the mountain/limestong path bike. Sheds dirt better, stays cleaner. Have used it for 8 years, chains last plenty long. Apply it every long ride or every mud ride, and it does what it needs to.
ProLink for the road bikes, or bikes with fenders. Lasts a LONG time between applications. I ride in dry conditions, can go many rides before needing application again. Doesnt pick up too much crap, but I wont use it on crushed limestone paths anymore, the tires fling all that dust right up onto the chain!
Park grease in the 1lb tub. I have always used it and it works great, My bearings are always smooth when packed with Park grease...

The problem with Boeshield, is, that it's not easy to find locally - and I live in the Chicago suburbs.... the DuPont stuff is everywhere.

You can get it at REI...
I have been using White Lightning Clean Ride, Triflow, and one of Pedro's lubes and will be trying Boeshield next. Triflow makes a mess, the pedro lube bottle likes to leak everywhere (it's now gone after only a few uses after carrying it around in my bag), and the Clean Ride seems to work okay, but not really protect as well against rust (i guess it could be said to be too dry?).
It's amazing that this thread is 10 years old...
