Longest-lived glue
Which brand of glue has the longest shelf life? Every brand I've used lasts a year or less before it looses it's sticking ability or gets downright hard in the container. It also seems like once you've opened it, the glue degrades that much faster. Are there any new products out there that last longer? I try and replace mine every year, but sometimes I forget.

Two-part epoxies are nearly immortal, assuming you close them tightly.

RE: glue
Looks like I failed to include the post important part. I'm asking about glue used to apply patches to bicycle tubes.

Well that explains why you posted in this forum.
I'll defer to someone else for the answer, except to say that I don't think there is a 'best' one if you go by the brand. Seems to me that patching cements have to be full of volatiles to melt the rubber, so the packaging is critical. Got to keep them volatiles in.

Call me The Breeze
I use whatever comes in the Rena patch kits. Never had it go hard on me. Maybe I get too many flats? *shrugs*

I make sure to roll/crimp up the end so there is no air in the tube when you have the cap on, also re-cap promptly after use. I use what-ever came in the patch kits I used to buy before I found out I could get just patches. I've still got un-opened tubes from years ago that are good and they stay liquid until I use them up.

I've picked up patch kit glue in fanny bags on old bikes (1980's-1970's). Some of the tubes were opened by the original owners. I'd say only one out of four is hardened. Usually, they work just fine.
Actually, I find the older glues work better than new glue. Maybe someone knows if they've had to change to formula due to regulations.
