tic-tic-tic-UPDATE fixed!
My 88 trek 1000 bottom bracket went bad, making thumping, and knocking noises. SO off to the LFS. They put in a new cartridge bb. Now when standing up to pedal, under heavy load, I get a tic noise every time either pedal goes down. I checked my pedals, they are tight. I checked they crank arms, they appear tight. I checked the sprocket bolts, they are tight. Any thoughts?

More grease on the bb threads, or teflon tape. The bb threads are a very common place to get a ticking noise. Check the cranks for tightness first, though. Always start with the easiest thing-

UPDATE- I bought a crank puller, and a bottom bracket socket, removed the new shimano BBUN-25 that the LBS had installed, and carefully installed it. I greased the threads, carefully torqued it, and followed the instructions provided at park tools' website.
It works perfectly. Just reminds me that if you can possibly do it yourself, you'll likely do a better job than a person you can pay.
