Chain Alignment on Double & Triple Cranksets

Looking at my bike's triple crankset alignment of the chain to the 10-Speed cassette:
* On the outer ring, the chain looks straightest on the 3rd smallest cog (rear 8th gear?)

* On the middle ring, the chain looks straightest on the 5th smallest cog (rear 6th gear?)

Is that a good compromise on where the front & rear derailleurs have the chain lined up ... between the middle and outer chainrings ... and the 10-speed cassette?

For 10-speed cassettes ... and if you will be doing most of your riding on the outer chainring:
1. Triple Crankset: Which cog should the chain line up with from the middle and from the outer chainrings?

2. Double Crankset: Which cog should the chain line up with from the inner and from the outer chainrings?

Read Sheldon on "chainline" and learn the principles involved.

Summary of Sheldon on triple chainline: Middle of the cassette should line up with the middle ring.
