I need to get a few wheel's worth of replacement spokes for some Mavic Crossland wheels (these are the UST/disc/rim wheels with 270mm straight-pull spokes).
Where do I get these? Does DT or Wheelsmith make a compatible spoke? These have flat sides on the hub end so they don't spin when you try and true the wheel. If I can buy a box of 50 that would be best.
Preferably an online source would be best. I'm not fond of my local bike shops and don't really feel like trying to get them that way.
and while I'm bumping this, anyone know whether the Phil Wood straight pull spokes will work on these hubs? I hate to order a box of them and find they don't work. If I have to blue-loctite the hub end to keep it from turning, that's no huge deal. I think the PW spokes may outlast Mavic-brand spokes.
FWIW, my brother in law was riding his brother's mountain bike over a big log, caught the derailleur and snapped the hanger off, derailleur went into the wheel and broke some spokes (Mavic Crossmax wheelset). He explored as many options as he could think of for repairing it, ended up going to the LBS for the new spokes. It was expensive, but it was the only way he could find to do it, if I remember correctly.
I guess my choices are either recycle the original spokes+ nipples (probably not a terrible idea), provided the nipples fit in a non-Mavic rim, or buy Phil Wood straight pull spokes + nipples. If I have to get a bag of brass nipples locally to recycle the current spokes that's easy enough to do.
