failure mode of Alpha Q forks

Mechanic looking for another wrenchers opinion. Anyone have any experience with a failure with this brand or any other that has a non-clear finish. I have a suspicious looking ridge on mine. It could be a cosmetic problem i never noticed or it could be interior stress.
