Derailleur screwed after a flight... is it done?
Hey all,
I just flew across the ocean. Had my mtb in a bag, padded the hell out of my derailleur etc. But I guess the fine folks handling it played a little nerf ball with my bag because I tried to re assemble it... but I cant get the back tire in now. It appears the derailleur (which I bought 3 days ago....) is semi blocking the drop in (where the quick release would land). Is it fixable? It just doesnt look right, but maybe I need to try again tomorrow with no jetlag eyes.... any words appreciated.
And if anyone from Vancouver out there that can recommend a bike shop, please let me know!

DO u have a picture? From what u say my guess is that the RD is just moved out of position. unbolt it and bolt it again. Like in IT Crowd "did u try turning it off and on again?"

my suggestion is to take the QR skewer out and try to get the wheel on. if you have further problems try rotating the RD back a bit as to "open" the path for the axle into the dropout.

undid the DR and the tire went in!
Thanks guys for the advice. I noticed the rear barrell adjuster was bend up and a little strange. Anyways, I undid the DR from the chainstay, cleaned any crud off, tightened it back on and lined it up better..and my tire fit in! the DR is hopefully ok then. Except... I cant get it into the top on the back cogset, so maybe that barrell adjuster got whacked out. Ill take it into a shop for adjusting. Thanks again.

hanger bent
Hey Steev.. I fiddled a bit.. but found a nice bike shop here. Im in Vancouver BC, Burnaby to be exact. The local shop guy saw my derailleur hanger was badly bent, so he tried to bend it carefully back, and ive got the high cog now so lifes not so bad. Gotta figure out this city now, 4 yrs in Japan, this is an adjustment.
