    Rattling Skewer

I just got a wheelset (Mavic Ksyrium SL). I got the tires mounted, installed the cassette, and finally put the wheels on the bike, when I took the bike down from the stand I heard a rattle from the front wheel specifically from the hub. I checked to make sure everything was tight. It was.

In a moment of desperation, I installed the skewer from the old wheel. The rattle stopped. Then, I installed the new Mavic skewer on my old wheel and the rattle followed the skewer.

My impression is that this is a problem only with the skewer. Has anyone else had a similar experience? Do you think it could be a problem with the hub? I want to get some feedback and advice before I call Nashbar.

    Thanks,
My name's Jim, but most people call me...Jim

How tight was the new skewer in the new wheel? If there was a rattle, I'd have been tempted to tighten the new skewer (both in the old and the new wheel) just a little more to see what happened.

Make sure that the skewer ends clear the 'lawyer tabs'.
