Ergo QC lever/Shimano FD compability

Does the Left 2007 Ergo brifter with QC work with a Shimano Ultegra Double Front Derailleur? Thanks.

Bikes: '96 Litespeed Catalyst, '05 Litespeed Firenze, '06 Litespeed Tuscany, '20 Surly Midnight Special, All are 3x10. It is hilly around here!

I assume you mean "QS". 2007 Centaur and below Ergo's don't have micro-adjust shifting so you can't trim them on the big ring which makes them iffy for use with Shimano anything. Chorus and Record retain the micro-adjust shifting and should be able to work with nearly anything.

All 2007 Campagnolo LH EP levers feature QS. Centaur on down have the new ESCAPE mechanism inside which does not have micro adjusting abilities.

I too am interested to see if they will work as well with Shimano or Sram as they have previously. Please keep us posted as to what you find out.

Yeah, I know but the terminology you hear is the "QS" name applied to everything. They haven't emphasized the "Escape" part nearly as much, maybe because they now shift just like Shimano STI's always have.

I got a pair of '07 Centaur QS Ergo's to fit to my otherwise all-Shimano Ultegra triple bike late last year before I realized what the changes from '06 to '07 were. I installed the brifters and was surprised to find there was only one "click" from the big ring to the middle ring. The fd didn't line up properly with the middle ring when it was set up correctly over the large ring and, since there was only the single click, not the multiple ones I expected, I couldn't make it work. I returned them and got a set of '06 left-over Record brifters and these work perfectly (with a Shiftmate for the rear shifting).

So, my single data point says the QS/Escape brifters won't work with Shimano cranks and front derailleurs. I wonder if a Campy QS fd would have worked better but didn't try it.
