Good (V-)brakepads for wet weather
I am hating on my rear V-brakes as they are pathetic in stopping power.
Please give me your recommendation for good brakepads, possibly inexpensive and definitely available in europe.

The salmon color will work best in wet conditions.
Here is their European info: https://www.koolstop.com/Europe.html
Inexpensive is not important if you can't stop in time.

In the winter, rear brakes are indispensible. Do you ride in the winter? On ice? On wet ice? Fresh snow on ice? Bumpy ice? How much experience do you have of riding in these conditions in a hilly place?
I know that yours is the politically correct thing to say, but can you, you know, for once.... NOT say it? I have heard this a million times, and not once the one who said it thought it was rendundant. But it is rendundant, and sometimes it's not even true.

I've used Kool Stops, and they are excellent. I have had good experiences with Fibrax for other things. Swisstop pads have a great reputation. I don't like Avid, Shimano or Tektro pads, and I am also not keen on the Aztec pads.
I think you will be happy with the Kool Stop pads though.
I can only imagine what Finland could be like in winter. I studied in Austria, and my finnish friends always complained about the damp cold. I used to have to defrost my Puch on really cold days, and ride around with a bottle of hot water....

I bought these.
In the meantime (thanks acorn user for reminding me) I'll use some Shimano brake pads I took from some LX V-brakes. Not ideal, but I guess better than what I have now on my winter bike. I hope not to break my neck.

Ah, I see. The link isn't working for whatever reason. He might also offer a dual compound black/salmon (they are popular in Germany for some reason) which are okay but not as good as the 100% salmon.

The guy sells black, salmon, and some "red" Kool Stop pads. These red ones, from what I understand, are the same as the black ones - for the same wheather conditons. Hmm..?

I ordered also some Kool Stop thinline brake shoes (Salmon, of course) from the states - cheaper than in europe, just takes longer to get here.
But I believe that I'll be using less rim brakes in the future, and move gradually to rollerbrakes. My one singlespeed with rollerbrakes in the rear has proved to be excellent.
