STI SHIFTERS: Can I use double shifters (Dura-Ace) for a triple?
Hope everyone is stoked for Christmas (or the few days off).
I just posted this on the Road Cycling forum, but thought I'd also reach out to the gearheads here...
I have a Allez circa 2001 with Tiagra front and rear derailleurs, and Tiagra brifters. It's got a 9-speed cassette in the back and a triple ring in the front. I recently bought Dura-Ace ST-7700 brifters, and just realized that the left (front derailleur) brifter only works with a double, not a triple front derailleur. Could I adjust the limit screws on the front derailleur so that it only shifts to two rings (preferably the granny gear and the middle ring)? And I am correct in assuming that the right (rear) brifter will work as a replacement?
Thanks and cheers,
-Frederik

I see no reason that you cannot do that, but what have you gained? As you know, you'll lose the use of one of the chainrings. Why not re-sell the shifters and get what you need or stay with the Tiagra shifters?
