Threaded Carbon Forks...anything worthwhile out there?
Assuming decent 1 inch threaded carbon forks are still being made, I'm looking for some recommendations to consider. Thanks.
(A friend wants to sell me an older titanium frame-no-fork.)

Hi... I would get a 1 inch non threaded one, a new stem, and a nice 1 inch non threaded headset. If money is the issue, just get a token headset, are good and cheap. Call the bike manufacturer also to ifnd out the fork rake and stuff that will make your life easier trying to find a fitting fork.

+1 for switching to threadless, but I think Nashbar still has a good deal on no-name threaded ones.

An old friend of mine is doing the same thing. He is going to "upgrade" to threadless. He has an older Specialized Allez and is going to get an used, nicer fork off of ebay, or a new Performance/Nashbar cheap ones (about $100, maybe less). Stem and headset would run about $50 for a decent pairing.

The only threaded carbon fork I'm familiar with was Kestrel's EMS Pro with a Cr-Mo threaded 1" steerer. I still have one on my '96 Litespeed that I installed about 7 years and 30,000 miles ago and it's been very good and stable. They weighed about 490 grams with a 175 mm steerer.
Kestrel no longer lists them so you may have to try to find an NOS one at a bike shop or eBay. they sold for about $175 when current and about $120 toward the end of their production cycle.
Othewise, changing/upgrading to threadless may be a lot easier.

What size frame? I have a Time Club fork with brand new Ritchey (mounted but zero miles) headset I need to get out of the parts bin. It's cut for a 52cm frame.
