Help set me straight on Shimano 10s compatibility
I thought I understood but now I'm not sure....
I have a Orbea Opal; Shimano Dura Ace rear der, Mavic Ksyrium with Dura Ace CS7800 12-27 cassette.
My problem: I wanted to take advantage of the SRAM OG-1070 11-28 cassette to gain a tooth on the top and bottom end. I bought a Park FR-1 Freewheel Removal tool and a SR-1 Chain Whip, thinking I was good to go. Well when the FR-1 didn't fit I knew I needed an education. Checking the Shimano "CS/HW/WH Interchangeability (Road 10-Speed)", it appears the CS7800 has deeper serrations (I'd call them splines) than what the FR-1 is designed for.
So in order to utilize the SRAM OG-1070 11-28 do I need to change my hub body to CS6600 shallow serrations? And what is the proper tool to use with the CS7800 freewheel hub?
Thanks In Advance

Wrong tool. The FR-1 is for old school screw on freewheels, you have a cassette on a freehub body. You need a Park FR-5 for both the Shimano and SRAM cassettes. Start at this webpage. With a FR-5, and your chainwhip, you should be able to switch the cassette with ease. Don't forget the Mavic and Shimano spacers.

If the freehub is Shimano 10sp only you can't use the 1070 cassette on it. Apparently this was going to be addressed in the new Red cassettes but I haven't seen one in the flesh yet to verify.

I think I've got it now as far as the tools is concerned. Not sure yet about the spacers but I will disassemble carefully making sure I know what order things are in.
The Park website has some good info:
https://www.parktool.com/repair/readhowto.asp?id=48
Cassette Cog Lockring Removal and Installation and Using FR-5G with Guide Pin make it pretty clear.
Thanks,

About the spacers, you need a 1mm wide spacer to put a 10-speed cassette on a 8/9 speed freehub body, as it is narrower. Mavic requires their own spacer, for whatever reason, for a 8 or 9 speed cassette. When you use a 10 speed cassette on a Mavic freehub, you need both the Mavic spacer and the 1mm spacer.
