Building new frame - what parts first?

Hi, I am building up a new cyclo cross frame and waswondering if there is any particular order I should get parts, or should I get various things at the same time etc. I am fairly poor:-( but i am planning to get the parts bit by bit. I was thinking in this order. I have forks and frame. headset, bottom bracket, stem, handlebar, seat post, saddle, wheels, cranks and pedals. Basically so i can get a good fit on it then everything else. Is there anything I should be wary of? thanks in advance

Cranks and BB should be purchased at the same time to ensure proper chainline. Or, at least cranks before BB. Otherwise the parts you listed shouldn't affect any of the other parts.

I doesn't really matter in what order you acquire the parts, as long as you have it planned out and know exactly what you need.

Here's the general order of assembly I usually follow: Assuming it is a bare frame, headset first to attach the fork. Then BB/crank. Then brake calipers, wheels (or at least rear with cassette), dérailleurs, chain, stem, bars, shifters. Run the cables, and do the adjustments. Saddle and seat post you can save for last - you don't need them to get the bike rigged and adjusted. Tape the bars to finish, and when you are sure you like where the stem bars are, you can get the final cut done on the steerer tube.

I usually acquire the parts in the general order of assembly.

The order of purchase doesn't matter since you can't ride the bike until you have them all. I agree that you have to make sure the crank and bb match, the hubs match the cassette, etc. but purchase parts in any order you have the money for.

You can steal wheels/cassette off another bike if need be. You can't ride two bikes at the same time. Its also a PITA to swap one wheelset between two bikes but if you are on a budget, you can do it.
