embarassing question
i'm buying a trek 520 and want to run wider tires. it comes stock with 700x32s. do i have to replace the rims to run 700x35s?
|
No problem to run 35's with your rims.
|
No, your current rims are fine.
|
ditto. it will be fine.
you can check out the chart (bottom of page) at this sheldon brown's site. it has appropriate tire sizing according to rim width. http://www.sheldonbrown.com/tire_sizing.html |

(Sure, they will be fine -- we are only talking 3 silly millimeters here!) -- O.S. |
:o
thanks folks, this is great news! |
I'd be equally concerned about fitting the fork, will there be enough clearance in the crown area? I don't know. 3 mm doesn't sound like much, but....
|
The 520 is Trek's touring bike so I expect they gave it plenty of clearance for wider tires and fenders.
|
i've heard fork clearance is one of the 520's cons, but someone told me (from experience) they handle 37s with fenders. so, i'm set!
