    Rebuilding stresses a rim?

What stress (if any) is put on a rim if all of the spokes are (carefully) loosened and the rim is rebuilt?

Yeah, loosen tension somewhat gradually (1/2 turn or 1 turn per lap), and you won't hurt a thing.

I recently rebuilt a 10-year-old wheel, re-using the rim and spokes with a new hub. No problems at all.
