So...I had this wonderful idea of continuing to use my Chorus ergo-lever for the rear derailleur, and installing a Cane Creek brake lever (as I use a single ring on my cyclocross bike) for the left side.
Here's my question...even with the slot on the along the lower portion of the Cane Creek brake hood, will the Campagnolo brake hood fit on the Cane Creek levers in an attempt to make the lever look the similar?

I'm sorry, I can't answer your question. But what does come to mind is the fact ergos have the brake release integrated into them. So if you use the Cane Creek lever and your Campy caliper you might have no brake release to be able to accomodate the removal of your wheel?

The new Cane Creek and Tekro levers have a Campagnolo like brake release.

I have a pair of each of those (on different bikes). The shapes are similar but not the same. my guess is swapping either would be a sloppy fit. probably better to just use the correct hood on each. From 50' away no one is going to notice

I have tried this, and no, it does not work...well. The inside of the hoods have different points where they have tabs molded in that fit into corresponding holes in the lever body. They end up lumpy, and the size is a bit different as well.

How about removing the internals & shift levers from your chorus shifter?

i did that a few years ago and have been riding the bike that way for quite some time. the problem is that the little puck that fits into area below the handlebar clamp just in front of the shifting mechanism keeps craking at its contact points. it seems that the lever body doesn't have anough support because the puck has nothing to keep it from moving...i am assuning the shifting mechanism makes just enough contact with that puck to support the lever from below as well as above the bar clamp. i was looking at the right side lever and there is a little divit of there the shifting mechanism rubs, just slightly, on that little puck insert.

since I am replacing the bars and rebuilding the right side lever, i wanted to put on the left lever and prevent the same thing from happening.

EDIT: I can just install another puck in there, but the same thing would happen again...eventually.....

Makes perfect sense, to me at least. I'd need a shifter in front of me to help you from here, but I can probably come up with something. I'm sure filling in the gaps with something to replace the internals will help support the structure. Hopefully someone else already has an idea to help out sooner!

...and i just went (just to make sure) to see that the new little puck is good. it sits nice and tight in there and fits perfectly, but over time with all the bumping, falling, and just plain gripping the lever body...it is plastic. I'm going to install my new bars (ITM 300g) and see how they fit. maybe the ergo portion of the drop just didn't mesh with the contour of the lever in that area on the TTT Prima 199's I am getting rid of.
