Can I replace a SRAM X-5 trigger shifter knob?

So, I took a nasty spill on a fantastic jump last month. I barely made it out alive.

Unfortunately, however, the knob you press to shift on my trigger shifter did not. This is on the right side of my handlebars that shifts the rear gears. Does anyone know if I can replace just this piece of plastic that screws onto the bottom? The rest of the shifter is still fine and the shop tells me I have to replace all of both shifters for a hefty fee.

I found the product manual from SRAM and you can look at the part.

Thanks and let me know if you have any questions!

Any decent LBS will order the part for you. I've ordered just the spring for Avid V-brakes from the same catalog.

Good luck.

sorry mikejavo... what is LBS?

is that a dumb question?

thanks thumpic. i just asked my buddies and LBS makes a whole heck of a lot of sense once i was told.

i asked the shop i bought my bike from (only two months prior) and they say they work with wholesalers who then work with SRAM and there isnt anything they can do. thanks for your input though. i'll check out some other shops that deal SRAM and see what happens...
