Question about upgrade from 7 to 9 speed
My main roadie is a older Cannondale SR500 that originially had RSX triple X 7-speed brifters. I recently acquired a set of 105, triple X 9 speed brifters with 9speed cassette. My only concern about making this conversion is, will I still be able to use the RSX crank and chain rings and the RSX front derailer with 9 speed? (pics below)
I also picked up a Bontrager ISIS crank, triple that came off the same bike as the brifters, so if there is an advantage to changing the cranks I can, but if there is no advantage, I'd prefer not to.
Please do not comment on the rear, as I'm good to go there.
