Frame for winter bike buildup?
Hi folks. I'm looking for recommendations for a frame for a winter bike. I have a bunch of parts and I'm trying to build it into a bike. I have a nexus internal hub, a pair of Nokian 26" studded tires on wheels, a carbon fork that's been cut down.
So I'm looking for a frame that takes 26" wheels that has horizontal dropouts for the internal hub, a 27.2 seat tube, enough tire clearance for the fat studded tires, and a head tube no more than 5". All this in a geometry that's reasonable for street riding.
Any thoughts?
Thanks.

https://www.surlybikes.com/1X1.html (73mm BB width, HT length depends on size)

Really depends on what you define as "reasonable" for street riding. I'm suggesting MTB frames because I'm assuming that you want cantilever brakes. You can do some funky stuff with a fixed or SS frame if you want to use BMX caliper brakes. Sheldon Brown built up an IRO Jamie Roy with a Nexus hub with 630b wheels and BMX caliper brakes. https://sheldonbrown.com/org/iro/index.html
With a 26" wheel you'd probably need some kind of drop bolt. https://sheldonbrown.com/home-drop.html But that opens up the possibilities to almost any SS or Fixed frame out there (depending on the hub spacing). Personally I've ridden old junkers, and a Surly Steamroller as well as a IRO Mark V both of which are pretty solid frames and not too expensive.
Using a SS cross frame is probably out since I don't think you could make cantis work with 26" wheels (brake bosses would be too high).
What's the carbon fork? And are you sure the tires will clear it? Most carbon forks I've seen wouldn't
have clearance for 26" knobbies.
Good luck!

Thanks for the responses. The I.R.O. Jamie Roy on Sheldon Brown's website looks kind of like what I have in mind. The zion looks interesting too and it's more in my price range.
The fork I'm using is a Nashbar cyclocross fork, no problem with the knobbies. I had everything built up on an old Cannondale MTB frame, but then I got the internal rear hub and there was no way I could get it to go onto the fat aluminum frame.
Thanks.

I'm also looking at a Van Dessel Superfly. Anyone have any opinions?
Thanks.
Thanks.

On the Cheap? The Nashbar Chromoly MTB Frame currently for sale at $49.95. I built one of these up earlier this year and it turned out SO nice.
