Gimpiemme front hub for rear wheel?
Hi, I'm trying to rebuild a Gipiemme parade rear wheel as a front wheel, and am wondering what is a good hub to use. I wanted to see if anyone here had experience with these wheels and what would work.
The rear wheel is 20 spokes, but Parade front wheels are 16 so I can't use that hub. I am looking for a 20 spoke hub, that is not too expensive ($100 at the most, and I work at a shop so can get 50-60% off retail). Weight is not the main issue, just looking for something sturdy and can stand up to some rain/snow). |
Ritchey 20-hole fronts make their way onto ebay from time to time.
Actually, I think there's a Dura-Ace 20-spoke front on there right now. Bam. http://cgi.ebay.com/07-Shimano-Dura-...QQcmdZViewItem Kinda pricey, but it's there. It's been out there a while. Shoot the guy an offer. He'll probably bite. |
Welcome to BF. But what you have is not a wheel. You have a rim.
I had to read twice to figure out what you were trying to do. |
Sorry for the confusion, they are actually wheels (spokes, hub, rim, even tires) but I guess that wasn't relevant. A similar sized hub would be nice, to re-use the spokes, but I don't know the current spoke lengths or hub size...

Re-using the spokes will be very difficult. The hub dimensions would have to be pretty much exactly the same. Good luck finding that...
A new set of spokes won't cost too much if you're considering $100 for the hub. My LBS relaced a couple wheels for me for $60 including new spokes. |
