Sugino BB tool?

I need to put a new bottom bracket into my current project, and the plan is to use a sugino track BB. Now, the only reference to the tool required for it says it uses a "UN74 tool" for installation. I can't seem to figure out what that is, and was wondering if one of you fine fellows or ladies could point me in the right direction as to what I will need. any help is greatly appreciated.

I just hate all the smart ass replies to obvious questions so I try not to do it myself. Even then, I guess this question wasn't super obvious since the directions that came with your BB made it sound a hell of a lot more cryptic than it actually was.

Not everyone does there own wrenching on a regular basis, and even those that do don't know everything.

UN74 is super secret Shimano code for one of the few different wacky tools with splines that people use once in a blue moon unless they find servicing bottom brackets meditative. I know I do.

Haha, well, thanks for your help and the clean smartass-less reply. It's the first BB work I've ever done, so I was curious and being that i live in podunk nowhere town I have to order the proper tools, and I didn t want to end up with a misfitting tool, as that would be a) a waste of money and b) mean I had to wait approximately 5 days to get the RIGHT tool to put my new bottom bracket and cranks in.

Back to hopefully useful information. The Shimano UN-series of cartridge bottom brackets all use a multi-spline removal/installation tool. The Park BBT-2 is the most commonly used version and is readily available.

WHAAAAAAAAAT S-A response are you referring to???? You might take a ribbing or 2 on this site but everyone means well. It is a Shimano tool...check out the Sheldon Brown website on this issue for a real education.

Indeed.

Just so you know, UN74 is basically the "standard" bottom bracket tool that works on most square taper BBs. If you have a kit that comes with a bottom bracket tool, it's almost certainly UN74-compatible.

Originally I had put down something like "I'm resisting all kinds of smart ass reply urges" but took it out.
