Bicycle tires
Are bicycle supposed to be perfectly straight and round?I have a trek classic cruiser and I have noticed after 1000 miles that my bontrager tires are not perfect, they have a hump and are not perfect(as I assume a tire should be)I go over bumps, but nothing over 3" very fast.I never took it back for being a defect but is it a defect?I would not know if thats covered under treks warranty.

There are two things that can cause a hump like you describe:
- Miss-seating
- Casing damage.
Miss-seating is when part of the tyre isn't inserted into the rim as far as another part. Look at where the tyre goes into the rim, check that it looks the same all around.
Casing damage can be invisible apart from the bump. The threads inside the casing can break, so just the rubber is holding the tyre together at that point. IF there is a pronounced bump at one point, it is casing damage and you really should replace the tyre. 1000 miles isn't much to get out of a tyre, but it happens sometimes. I've had a not-cheap tyre ruined after 250 miles.

Although tires are supposed to be uniform and hump free, a swelling that is
not noticeable while riding, ie no perceptible hop of the bike while rolling on
smooth pavement, and is not associated with an obvious defect such as
hairy describes can be ridden til it wears out. You would need to unmount
the tire, examine the inside of the carcass and the bead and remount the
tire to be certain that there is no occult damage though external exam will
show most damage or improper mounting.
As to warranty, it should more properly be described as charity to assume
any warranty on a tire after 1000mi of riding. Depends on your LBS. Don't
expect much. In my experience about 1/3 or so of my bike tires fail through
carcass damage rather than wearing out. If you are on the north side of
180-200# or so the percentage will be even higher.
