How do I disassemble an internally geared hub?
I have a shimano-huffy 3 speed hub. I want to remove the planetary gear mechanism (to see how it works before I recycle it) but it seems to be held in place by the shrink fit races. Is there any easy way to get the mechanism out?

The Shimano 3 speeds aren't really designed to be worked on. Takes special tools that will cost more than its worth. As with many things Shimano made/makes it is kind of disposable. If you want one to take apart get a Sturmey Archer 3 speed. Roger
