How often am I suppose to change my chain?

Just curious on how often or at what mileage am I suppose to replace my chain? I've been riding my DA chains for about 1800+ miles since last summer.

Thanks!

I suggest checking the chain for wear. There are inexpensive devices for that. It's not 'How often' but 'How worn' it is that matters. If it's rusty (i.e. not taken care of) probably a good idea to replace it. Replacing more often is better than not often enough because a worn chain can cause excessive wear to the cassette and they're usually more expensive to replace than a chain. Keep it clean and keep it lubricated and a chain will last a long time but I think it depends a lot on the type of riding you do and the conditions in which you ride and how you take care of it.

I change the chain+casette+chainrings all together say every second or third year (do a lot of riding in winther conditions). If you ride in smooth conditions and keep the drivetrain clean it will expand the lifetime.

I dont see any reasons for changing the chain if its not broken or damaged, am I missing something ?

Yes you are [missing something]....

Chains are like tires. You change them based on wear, not based on time. And if you replace your chain in a timely manner, you will not need to replace your chainrings or cassette.

I would humbly suggest you search this forum for that question comes up on the average of once a week. Synopsis: mileage is meaningless in terms of chain replacement, it's all about wear that is easily measured. Anyone who quotes you a specified mileage range is clueless about bikes.
