hanging a bike

I have been hanging my bike from a hook, by the rear wheel. Is this going to cause any out of roundness in the rim? Thanks for any replies.

It will be fine. There must be millions of bikes hanging that way now.

"that rug really tied the room together."

I love that movie. My favorite part is when the tries to flick the roach out the closed car window, and it lands in his lap. He begins screaming and pouring his beer into his lap to put it out, and in the process plows into a dumpster. The look on his face with the crooked shades, lol. Priceless!,,,,BD

That is one of my favourite parts of the movie, also. I love how the front of the car comes up off the ground when he hits the dumpster. I know people some what like him.

At least three feet, lol. A bit of trivia. That car was on an episode of the X files. If you ever watch that show, keep an eye out for the episode where the guy robs the bank, and his girlfriend keeps living the
event over and over, kind of like the movie Groundhog Day. Outside the bank, they show the car in a couple of shots, same primer on the body lines, color, etc.,,,,BD

I was watching Xfiles late one night, and I spotted it.

Biopace chainrings are made by hanging round rings from hooks.

Just make sure you rotate the wheel periodically, the oxygen and nitrogen will tend to separate over time and you might build up an explosive bubble of gas.

You on your bike = 50 to 100+ lb load per wheel, not counting bumps
Your bike hanging from one hook = 15-25 lb load on the wheel.

I would tend to think no, it won't un-round your rim... Unless it's overcooked pasta.

Would this be the 100th post on this subject? I am waiting for the one that the wheel has become oval from hanging a bike.

Ah yes, but the force is now being exerted on the rim from the inside, not the outside. That changes all the equations relative to spoke tension and rim roundness.
