8sp STI

Howdy,
I've come across a pair of sticky 8sp. Shimano 600 STI brifters. I've heard that flushing out things with tri-flow will make them less sticky. Is this true? If it is, what do I flush out?
Thank you very much!

You can try, but there are no guarantees.

I flushed out the Shimano 600 brifters that came on my Trek 2300 and got them working again...for a while. Just stick the straw inside the guts as much as possible and blast away til they feel smooth.

Mine were sadly worn out. I replaced them with bar-con shifters that are much more reliable.

I've had success flushing with lots of WD-40 first, then following with Tri-Flow. But, as stated before, there are no guarentees. In my limited experience, if they are just sticky but still working, they recover with a flush out.

When something just needs to get flushed, I use SpeedClean. Watch out though, inhaling the aerosol alcohol is bad, bad, bad, bad, bad, bad . . .
