Gears
Right I've got a Giant SCR 4 and have been using it splendidly over hte past month or so, but now my gears on it don't seem to be working.
It has trigger gears on it, which were a bit dodgy to start with so I thought that it was just a breaking in process for a new bike, but now they just don't seem to work... No matter how hard I peddle, when I click them the gears just don't go anywhere, and it's getting annoying to pull off at a junction in the highest gear.

Take a look at this picture...

I realise your Shimano 2200 16 speed STI will not look the same, but the pic still works for this purpose.
Where the black cable cover runs into the derailleur, you can see a thumb screw.
If you either place your bike into a stand, or failing that turn it upside down, and then turn the cranks so that the rear wheel is turning and then turn this screw (barrel adjuster) so that it is screwing out of the derailleur it will tension the cable and eventually the chain should jump to the next sprocket. You can stop turning it then and give the bike a test ride. If the gears are sluggish to go up to the next sprocket screw it out a quarter of a turn.
Okay, it could happen you almost unscrew the barrel adjuster completely and the chain has not moved. In this case, screw the barrel adjuster all the way back, and slacken the cable clamp bolt and just pull a bit of the slack cable through, and tighten the cable clamp again... then try the above again.
