I don't see what the point of that would be.

Bike cleaner can be bought at bike shops, if you are so inclined. Personally I use a garden hose. Just don't use high enough pressure to push the grease out of the bearings. Don't aim at the headset.

I like Pledge furniture polish for cleaning mine.

For a much more expensive alternative that doesn't work any better, Boeshield T-9 is cool, too

+1 on pledge furniture polish. I never wash my bike. If the bike is really dirty, I just soak rag in slightly warm water, wring, then wipe away.

Regards,

I would think the oil would attract/hold dirt.

Depends.

If it's covered in rust then the rag will help knock off some of the rust and the oil will help make it look less heinous.

If it's covered in mud then so will the ragbe in short order and the oil will turn the dirt into paving mix.

If neither of those obtain, then we have to discuss the type of oil. Chainsaw chain oil? WD-40? Crude?

contrary to bikeforum rumors, high pressure washers work very, very well. nothing more than an electric pressure washer is really necessary. 1000-1500psi would be nice. i like karcher, but any brand will do

you can even aim at the seals. just have to be vigilant with the angle of approach.

If you have a lot of oil, it will. If it is just a light coating, it can protect the steel parts, kind of like oiling a gun. But, I don't see a point to wiping the bike down, maybe just the exposed steel parts would be okay. If your frame is steel and has a lot exposed, I would recommend a paint job over oiling.

I'm going to assume this is a serious question.

No. Oil + Paint = bad.
